WHAT IF I DON’T LIVE IN LONDON?

We offer video consultations for people who don’t live in London or are too busy to meet in person.

I’M OVERWEIGHT AND I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT, BUT EVERY TIME I TRY A DIET, I FAIL.

You fail because all ‘diets’ ignore the true issue: your emotional connection with food that causes you to over-eat. For Cathy, it was being bullied as a child and told she was stupid. She found comfort in food, which only made her feel worse, so she resorted to more food. Only after she addressed those issues did she successfully lose weight. Look at her now, from a UK size 24 to a perfectly toned size 8. The weight has stayed off for 10 years and will never return because Cathy lives by her Live Fit programme. 

DO YOU HAVE AN ACCELERATED PROGRAMME TO LOSE WEIGHT?

That depends entirely on your fitness level and lifestyle. If it’s just the last few pounds before holiday, then yes, we can get you beach body ready in as little as four weeks. But for real and sustained change, you must live a healthy lifestyle. For more dramatic weight-loss, we don’t offer accelerated programmes and caution you strongly against such drastic measures because they can cause serious health issues. Don’t search for magic pills or tea, they don’t work and they’re dangerous.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?

It depends entirely on your current fitness level, health concerns and goals. The first 6-8 weeks will be the most challenging because during those weeks, you are breaking bad habits, learning about your emotional triggers, learning about proper nutrition and moving your body in new ways. Once you graduate the Jumpstart programme, you will feel energised and notice the difference in your body. Be patient, change can be stubborn. Be kind to yourself too and know that it’s okay if you slip. Just get up and start again.

WHAT SUPPORT DO YOU OFFER?

Coaching is core to Body by Cathy—not just because Cathy is a trained Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), but also because of her personal experience. For Cathy, coaching starts with emotional coaching to identify triggers, then behaviour coaching to help you avoid those situations and stay focused on your goals. Our fitness plans include how-to videos and detailed instructions. You'll also have access to Cathy’s Community, connecting you to an entire world of people on the same journey as you (in addition to the Body by Cathy team you already know).

MY CHILD IS OVERWEIGHT and I don't know what to do. can you help?

You’re not alone, childhood obesity has become a national crisis, but you have one major advantage: you are addressing the problem now. Body by Cathy can help. We will insist nutrition and exercise become a family thing, benefiting everyone and ensuring your child’s success. We will help make cooking fun and delicious, and give suggestions for incorporating exercise into fun family time. As your child meets each goal, he/she will receive special badges related to his/her interests. As he/she graduates each level, we will encourage you to throw a party and celebrate his/her success. Although it will be difficult, know that you are giving your child a healthier and happier life.  

I AM DIABETIC, CAN I STILL JOIN BODY BY CATHY?

Absolutely! You can and should control Type II diabetes with proper nutrition and exercise. We will help you ditch the doughnuts and biscuits, get moving and feel amazing. Type I diabetes also benefits from proper food and exercise.    

I’M PREGNANT, CAN BODY BY CATHY HELP ME?

The little miracle growing inside you can wreak havoc on your body. We will show you tricks to fight morning sickness and fatigue, and proper nutrition to support both your body and the little one inside. After your baby is born, we’ll also show you how to lose that baby belly fast.

I HAVE REACHED MENOPAUSE, CAN YOU HELP?

A healthy diet and exercise will help control typical symptoms of menopause, including weight gain, sweats, mood swings and fatigue. We will get you moving and eating food rich in vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc and omega-3.

i RECENTLY HAD A HEALTH SCAN, WHICH SHOWED MY CHOLESTEROL LEVELS ARE DANGEROUSLY HIGH. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

First, you must see your GP immediately. If left untreated, you are at a higher risk of heart attack, stroke and disease. Your GP will advise you and insist you change your lifestyle, and probably hand you some brochures that will seem unhelpful, making you feel a bit lost. Where the GP ends is where we pick up, and where we help you change your life. We will teach you about nutrition and exercise, create a personalised plan for you and monitor your progress with regular check-ups. 

I’M RECOVERING FROM SURGERY, IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP ME RECOVER FASTER?

Yes, there is a lot we can do. If the surgery is planned, then you should start your healing diet before so your body is already cleansed and fit. After surgery, we’ll focus on more healing foods and light exercise.  

DIET & EXERCISE

IS EXERCISE REALLY IMPORTANT?

Nutrition and exercise are critical to losing weight and getting fit. Eating the wrong food will never shift weight and worse, will cause loss of precious muscle mass. Exercising too much or exercising without proper nutrition will also never help you lose weight and similarly, will result in losing precious muscle mass. Without exercise, your muscles will shrink and you will feel lethargic, making you search for ways to boost your energy, usually in the form of filling up on bad food (typically sugar). Exercise is critical to success!

I’VE NEVER EXERCISED IN MY LIFE. I’M A BIT SCARED.

It’s normal to be afraid of something you’ve never tried. Don’t worry. We were once where you are now. You’re not alone. We will guide you through every step of your Get Fit journey starting with emotional and behaviour coaching, then nutrition and fitness coaching. We offer consultations and helpful how-to videos.

I DON’T BELONG TO A GYM, HOW CAN I EXERCISE?

Cathy started by walking in front of the TV. When the weight started dropping off, she was no longer ashamed or embarrassed to exercise outside, so she started walking and then running in the park. We have complete fitness plans for everyone, regardless of your fitness level. You’d be amazed how much you can accomplish in your own home or at the park. Think couch squats, walking lunges around the kitchen table and dips on chairs. Easy.

CAN BODY BY CATHY HELP ME BECAUSE I’M A VEGETARIAN/VEGAN/PESCATARIAN/OTHER?

The biggest challenge with restrictive diets is finding good sources of complete proteins and ensuring you are not deficient in vital nutrients. We can devise a plan that’s just right for you and keeps the fun and pleasure of eating.   

I HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES, CAN I STILL JOIN BODY BY CATHY?

Our programmes are tailored based on your health, lifestyle and goals. Food allergies are common and range from mild irritation to full-blown anaphylactic shock. We can help you identify food allergies in addition to creating meal plans that help you avoid those foods or slowly build up tolerance—whatever you want.

CAN YOU HELP ME TRAIN FOR A MARATHON?

Way to go! When it comes to training for performance, we know how to help you reach your peak. When Cathy ran in the London Marathon, it was the fulfilment of a dream. How you train and when must be carefully monitored along with what you eat. On the day of the race, we’ll share our top tips to get you to the finish line.

CAN YOU HELP ME LOSE THE LAST FOUR POUNDS to meet my goal?

That's impossible to answer without knowing what you eat and how you exercise, but more importantly, it's the wrong question to ask. The scale can be devious and can rob you of motivation by making you measure fitness by numbers. Muscle really does weigh more than fat, you really can retain water and your hormones really do affect how much you weigh. Stick to classic measurements of chest, waist and hips—they tell the real story. If you want help shrinking those measurements, we know precisely what to do.

 

FINANCIAL

I WANT HELP, BUT I CAN’T AFFORD IT. DO YOU OFFER ASSISTANCE?

There is always a way. Talk to your GP. Obesity is a major health risk and local councils provide assistance. Follow Body by Cathy on Facebook and Instagram for healthy tips and read our blogs for more insight on how to get fit. But consider this: How much do you spend per week on takeaway and junk food? Do you find you need to eat more and more to feel full? Are you able to make it through an entire day with plenty of energy? Are you struggling at work? Too many sick days? What you put into your body has a direct impact on cognitive functions and energy levels. What’s worse, by eating junk, you’re training your body to crave more junk. It’s a vicious and expensive cycle. It won’t be easy, but it’s time to change your life. After eight weeks on the Jumpstart programme you will feel happier and more energetic. You’ll also save a small fortune on food and missed work.

DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?

You will pay upfront for the first consultation, which is credited toward your Get Fit programme. After then, you are billed monthly according to your programme.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The first consultation lasts 50 minutes and costs £45, but for Jumpstart, that fee is credited towards your programme. There are four Body by Cathy programmes: Jumpstart, Lose Weight, Get Lean and Live Fit—each of which are completely different. Jumpstart is the most time-consuming and challenging for both Cathy and her clients and is based on a 12-week programme that includes regular coaching and emotional support, progress reports and personal plans for each stage of your journey. The Lose Weight programme lasts as long as you need and is charged £50/week, including monthly reviews and progress reports. The Get Lean and Live Fit programmes last as long as you want and cost £50/week. there are so many weight-loss and fitness programmes out there, WHY is BODY BY CATHY better?

Cathy is her own success story. She ate her way to a UK size 24, and shrank to a UK size 8 where she has remained for 10 years. Her Get Fit programmes are based on personal experience. The other major difference is her approach to coaching. It’s not personal trainers or sports coaching where she focuses, it’s behaviour coaching.
